An under-sink space that stays usable
Work around plumbing and access before adding storage.

Map the obstacles
Take a photograph of the empty cupboard and measure around the waste pipe, water lines and valves. Keep valves accessible and avoid putting pressure on hoses. Look for moisture before adding storage; an organizer does not solve a leak. If anything looks damaged, have it assessed before covering the area.
Separate items by purpose
Keep daily washing-up items together and occasional cleaning supplies in a separate removable container. Follow the storage instructions on each product. Keep chemicals away from food and out of reach of children and pets; an ordinary cupboard or pull-out organizer is not a child-safety device.
Test access with the door open
A pull-out basket needs unobstructed travel, while a stacking shelf needs clearance above the pipe. Make sure a full container can be removed without catching plumbing. Use a washable base where appropriate and inspect beneath it regularly. Avoid filling every gap: room to see and reach the plumbing is part of a good layout.
Before you buy
Measure the space, write down the problem you want to solve, and test a simple layout with what you already own. Check the exact product’s dimensions, instructions and suitability before making a purchase.
